Day #2- The Mighty Mars!

Today we landed on the big Red Planet Mars. We were able to travel in hyperspeed and we roamed outside the space ship in our special Mars suits. Mars looks very much like our own Mojave Desert, but the soil is much more of a red color. After conducting scientific experiments on the soil we have discovered that is iron-oxide that makes it that distinct color. On entry into the atmospher we could see mountain ranges and crates on the surface of the planet. The atmosphere here is composed mostly of carbon dioxide and we have measured winds of up to 300 miles per hour and temperatures of 60 degrees below zero.

I have been doing weight training during my required excersice time on the ship which has helped me be able to gather numberous samples of rock which I will be taking back to the ship for analysis. I have been keeping my area on the ship very neat and clean because that is important for good hygine. Unfortunately, one of my space rocks broke up in my hand due to some kind of strange bacteria. Under the microscope I could see the bacteria was actually molecule sized alien beings! I have put them in special container so we can conduct tests on them when we return to earth! What a great discovery.

My calculations put us at 141,050,000 miles from the sun! Time for us to head back, a little closer to the sun on our wonderful planet earth!

Day #1 in Space- The view of Earth

Today is our first day in Outer Space! We hit blast off about 3 hours ago and we are now headed off to Mars. The view from here is amazing! Earth has so many different colors and so much of it is covered in clouds. I can see the great Oceans and I can clearly see the huge (but becoming very small) land mass of North America. Earth is the only planet that has liquid on the surface and that is very obvious from up here. After Mercury and Venus, I can see that Earth is the third planet from the sun, which my scientific calculations tell me it is 92,933,000 miles away from that big star full of gas! After Earth is Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and way off in the distance is Pluto which us Astronauts are still undecided on calling a planet. I know this is going to be a long trip and with 12 hours of work needed from each of us every day it will probably be a tiring one too! It is important that we exercise at least 2 hours per day in order to keep our bodies and our minds healthy and in shape for such a demanding trip. Our food is freeze dried into blocks... no need for microwaves up here! Everything is dried into nutritious portions that help us keep up our energy on our exciting exploration into space. The other members of my crew come from different places all over the world and maybe after our visit to Mars we will have crew members from across the Universe. Over and out for now!
